§ 2.40.020. Appointment of director.

  • There is created a director of municipal inspections who shall oversee and manage the department of municipal inspections. The director of municipal inspections shall be responsible to and appointed by the mayor, subject to confirmation by the city council. The director of municipal inspections shall serve for a term of four years coterminous with the four-year term of mayor. Such director shall be a person especially fitted by education, experience and training to perform the duties of the office. The position of director of municipal inspections shall be a "special municipal employee" position for purposes of M.G.L. c. 268A. The director of municipal inspections may also serve as the building inspector or health agent or gas/mechanical inspector, but in not more than one such position. If the director of municipal inspections serves as building inspector or health agent or gas/mechanical inspector, the financial interest of the director of municipal inspections in such positions shall be exempt from M.G.L. c. 268A, Section 20.
