§ 2.81.020. Composition—Terms—Vacancies.

  • The board of trustees of the Revere public library shall consist of eight persons, six of whom shall be appointed by the mayor subject to confirmation by the city council and two of whom shall be recommended to the mayor by the non-profit organization known as the friends of the library. The two trustees recommended by the friends of the library shall be appointed by the mayor subject to the confirmation by the city council and shall receive no compensation or stipend.

    The mayor shall annually in January appoint, subject to confirmation by the city council, two persons to serve as trustees for a term of three years beginning with the first Monday in February succeeding their appointment. The friends of the library shall annually in January recommend to the mayor two persons, each to serve for a term of one year. The mayor shall annually appoint two persons, recommended by the friends of the library, each to serve for a term of one year, subject to the confirmation by the city council. Any vacancy occurring in the board of trustees shall be filled for the unexpired term in the same manner as an original appointment.
