The city of Revere may assess shellfish areas to determine the extent of the shellfish
resource. The Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries may, as necessary, assist
in the resource assessment. The results will be used as a recommendation to the Revere
board of health, and based upon such recommendations, the Revere board of health,
with the approval of the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries, may institute
a management closure of a shellfish area, or portion therefor, in accordance with
M.G.L. c. 130, Sections 52, 54. The Massachusetts: Division of Marine Fisheries reserves
the right to institute public health closures in accordance with M.G.L. c. 130, Sections
74, 74A.
