§ 10.16.180. Accident reporting.*

    Every person operating a motor vehicle which is in any manner involved in an accident in which any person is killed or injured or in which there is damage in excess of one thousand dollars to any one vehicle or other property, shall report such accident within five days to the registrar and to the police department in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 90, Section 26 of the General Laws.

    B.

    Any accident involving injury or death to any person shall, within twenty-four hours, be reported and a detailed statement thereof submitted in writing to the police department of the city. The operator shall sign such statement. Should the operator be incapacitated to such an extent that he or she is unable to file such report and sign such statement, then it shall be prepared and filed upon his recovery. The report shall be made on a form prepared and furnished by the police department. Compliance with this section shall not relieve the operator from the responsibility of reporting to the Registrar of Motor Vehicles any accident in which a person may be killed or injured.
